Side Gusset Bag Packaging
A bag with folded sides for a fuller, squarer pack. Our SVC260 makes it with the optional gusset assembly.
Made on: SVC260 with the gusset assembly
What Is a Side Gusset Bag?
A back-seal bag with a fold pressed into each side as the bag is formed.

How it is made
- 01
Flat film
Film unwinds from the roll
- 02
Forming set
The film is wrapped into a tube
- 03
Gusset forming
The sides are folded in
- 04
Filling
Product drops in from the weigher
- 05
Cross seal and cut
Top and bottom seals, then the bag is cut off
- 06
Finished side gusset bag
Ready for inspection and packing
The final bag shape depends on the forming set, the gusset parts and the bag size, and is confirmed with your film.

Where Side Gusset Bags Fit
Products already running in this format on our machines.

Frozen Shrimp
Weighing glazed, uneven shrimp and keeping ice out of the seal.

Chicken Nuggets
Few pieces per bag, coating damage on the drop and crumbs in the seal.

Frozen Meatballs
Rolling, sticking and bounce at the bag mouth, with few pieces per bag.

Dry Pet Food
Dust, broken kibble, fat-coated pieces and large fill weights.

Nuts
Breakage, oil and seasoning, and giveaway on a costly product.

Snacks
Fragile, light chips, seasoning and the right headspace in the bag.
The format follows the pack you want to sell. Not every SVC260 product needs a gusset.

Output Depends on More Than the Bag
A side gusset bag has no single speed. The line runs at the pace of its slowest stage, so we check every stage instead of quoting the machine's top speed.
We set the final line target from product tests and agreed FAT conditions.

Which machine makes side gusset bags?
The SVC260, with the optional gusset assembly.
Is a side gusset bag the same as a quad-seal bag?
No. A quad-seal bag has four sealed edges and is made on the VGT series. A side gusset bag has folded sides and is made on the SVC260.
Does the VGT make side gusset bags?
The VGT lists a side gusset width for its quad-seal bags, but that is a quad-seal dimension. Simple side gusset bags are made on the SVC260.
Can the same SVC260 make pillow bags?
Yes. Pillow bags are standard on the SVC260; the gusset assembly is an option.
